THE
EXHIBITION
This exhibition reunites a series of intimate
portraits of friends of the artist first exhibited in Seattle
in 1997 at Collusion Gallery Unlimited. Sienna Reid’s
use of traditional painting techniques, unique portraiture and
lush colors fully capture the personality and sensuality of
the subjects portrayed. With influences by masters such as Francis
Bacon, Lucien Freud and Jenny Saville, this show exemplifies
the current renaissance of figurative and nude art making waves
world-wide.
THE
ARTIST
Sienna Reid was born in 1964 in Port Townsend, Washington, a
small town on the water with a lively artist community. From
1983-1986 she studied painting and printmaking at Western Washington
University in Bellingham, during which she spent five months
doing independent study in Europe. In 1986 she transferred to
Seattle where she immediately began showing her work in both
solo and group exhibitions, as well as curating shows by other
artists. In 1990 she spent five months painting and studying
in Mexico. From 1993-1996 Sienna attended the University of
Washington in Seattle where she studied with the important figure
painter Hanneline Rogeberg and received her Bachelor of Fine
Arts Degree in painting and humanities. Since 1999 she has lived
in Rome where she paints and exhibits her art.
