"AES+F. The Green Paradise..."
MACRO. Piazza O. Giustiniani, 4 Roma

The green paradise is a line from a poem in Les Fleurs du Mal by Baudelaire, which speaks of "the paradise of childhood love", of childhood and adolescence therefore. The artists featured in this exhibition are all part of the Russian Collective "AES+F" and include Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, Evgeny Sviatsky (who was a member of the original group) + Vladimir Friedkes (the "F" of the title). The pieces portray children and adolescents wearing angelic expressions and captured in spontaneous moments. Among the works on show - videos, photos and sculptures created between 1997 and 2007 - the 3D video "Last Riot (2007)" garners a particular mention.

"Pedro Cabrita Reis. Every moment, one moment after the other"
MACRO, Roma

Pedro Cabrita Reis' massive and exclusive installation contains a universe of glass and steel beams in which the notion of space is continually questioned and transformed according to the configurations created by the materials assembled. The Portuguese artist is a master at irrational and chaotic composition and conveys social context in heightened and contemporary fashion.

Running Exhibition till February 28th 2007
"Piero Pizzi Cannella. Cathedral"
MACRO, Roma

All the works on canvas and paper showing at the MACRO feature a cathedral. For Pizzi Cannella it is a symbol of ecstasy, a metaphorical place that you can reach in your head. In a vacuous environment a cathedral is something solid to hold on to, and yet its solidity is also evanescent.

Running Exhibition till September 12th 2004
"PABLO ECHAURREN"
MACRO, Roma

At Chiostro of Bramante opens an exhibition dedicated to Pablo Echaurren. The works of this event are 200 and show very well the eclectic activity of this artist who, son of Sebastian Matta, translates and proposes again, but in an original way, the spirit of Avant-gardes of XX century, creating works in which the different arts agree. The début is as painter; then, the love of artist for the different kinds of genres drives him to work for graphic and publishing projects, as the covers for Savelli ("Porci con le ali"); about '80s and '90s, Echaurren meets the metropolitan cultures and decides to used the imaginary of the strips (Frigidaire, Alter Alter, Linus, etc.), that recalls the Pop Art. In this exhibition there are: watercolours, minimalist enamels and works that are inspired by the society of the information of mass and by the cinema, TV, theatre and performances: from the covers of Lotta Continua and L''Espresso, to reviews of alternative culture, posters of music, covers of CD and records, post cards and watchs for Swatch. So, this is a good opportunity to know the whole work of Echaurren, original artist who joins the high culture with the lower culture.

"CARLA ACCARDI, VALERY KOSHLYAKOV, SISSI "
MACRO, Roma

An exhibition devoted to the three artists Carla Accardi, Valery Koshlyakov and Sissi has recently been opened in MACRO's rooms. The first one, put on in Sale Macro has been organized by Danilo Eccher, the museum director who, on this occasion, has decided to exhibit more than forty works which perfectly show the Italian artist path. The basic stylistic stages in Accardi's career , are four and through them, we can understan his very complicated poetics present in his works like his seventies sicofoil, such as the labyrinth house made of perspex , a series of ceramics very high cones and even 15 very big drawings especially made for the roman exhibit. The first time of Valery Koshlyakov takes place in Sale Panorama. This very interesting and unique exhibit has been especially planned for MACRO. Cloud is the title of his environmental work which is highly explicative of the Russian artist story origins : a village that has been built with poor materials like cardboard, tape, polysterene,on which a cloud, acting as a screen, hovers. Valery Koshlyakov calls these images ''iconic memories in space'' which are a sort of path going backwards in the artist career through an unceasing existential search. The third exhibition is devoted to Sissi, a very joung artist from the town of Bologna who is internationally well known after having been rewarded with the Furla Prize , given to her in 2002. At Macro, she is present with her environmental work , the title of which is NIDI (NESTS), another way to further examine her own body, a very important theme for the performer. Sissi's artistic searches may seem even obsessive when accurately analyzing bodiness and its special relationships created with the surroundings. The works exhibited are entirely made of Indonesian bombé wicker which forms a series of nests which can be seen as contaminations interweaving between men and animals.

Opening hours: Daily from Tuesday to Sunday 9.00-19.00; festivities 9.00-14.00; closed on Monday.
